DMM Dragon on uudistunut. Ensimmäisen erä lapsukset on kaikki korjattu ja nyt on aika esitellä uudistettu Dragon.

Dragonin kammat on täysin uudistettu vastaamaan tämän päivän kiipeilijän tarpeita. Pintaan on jätetty anodisoimatonta alumiinia jotta laite pureutuisi paremmin kiveen. Tämä hyöty tulee tarpeelliseksi varsinkin käyttöalueen ääripäässä. Myös muotoilu on uudistettu pyöreästä kulmikkaammaksi jotta kitkaa saadaan entisestään lisättyä. Laite ei ui niin helposti kuin anodisoidut vastaavat, puree kovempaa kiinni ja pysyy paremmin pehmeissä ja liukkaissa kivityypeissä.

DMM vaihtoi tuplarungon yksittäisrunkoon samalla tavalla kuin Camaloteissa on ollut jo pitkään. Tämä auttaa kun varmistus joudutaan asentamaan ei niin optimaaliseen asentoon. Laite ei vaurioidu niin helposti, eikä väänny niin pahasti.

Dragoneiden suurin mielipiteen jakaja on thumploopin puute. Pää on muotoiltu siten että kun siihen tottuu, ei laitetta voi tiputtaa kovinkaan helposti ja sen asentaminen on vaivatonta. Tällä kärjellä on taas ollut mahdollista tehdä jatkettava slingi, joka taas helposti vaurioittaa perinteistä peukalon reikää jos se tehdään ohuella slingillä.

Dragonien kevyt paino ei ole kuitenkaan tehty kompromissina keveyden suhteen – ne kestävät 14kN kuormituksen aina koosta 1 ylöspäin.

Tupla-akselin hyödyt verrattuna perinteisiin 1 akselin frendeihin.

Enää ei ole tarvetta kantaa mukana niin montaa eri kokoista frendiä kuin aikoinaan. Mielummin kantaa mukanaan tuplat joistain kooista ja käyttää samaa useampaan eri kokoiseen halkeamaan. DMM:n akselit on tehty saarivaltion tavoin ruostumattomasta teräksestä, etteivät ne ruostuisi niin helposti.

TripleGrip Cam Lobes

Our patented TripleGrip lobes are the result of extensive research into the factors governing friction between a cam’s contact surface area and the rock it’s placed in. We’ve increased this friction by machining a raw aluminium finish with additional bite points onto the surface of the lobes themselves. Wider lobes are also stiffer, allowing them to resist deformation to a greater degree. As a result our new Dragons excel in slick or soft rock and make the most of sub-optimal placements, giving you confidence when you need it most.

• The TripleGrip surface triples the number of pronounced edges that ‘bite’ crystals and micro-features in the rock. Together with a larger surface area this gives increased holding power and reduces walking

Testing and Research

Our TripleGrip cam lobe technology has undergone significant testing both in the lab and in the field. We investigated how different cam lobe surface finishes affect the friction between the cam lobe and different types of rock.
